Osteoporosis is a common condition with significant consequences for patients, yet it can often remain undetected until a fracture occurs.

For GPs, recognising patients at risk and understanding the impact of osteoporosis is essential to reducing fracture risk, preserving independence and improving long-term health outcomes.

In this introductory video, Associate Professor Debbie Kors provides an overview of why osteoporosis matters in clinical practice, exploring the prevalence of the condition, the consequences of osteoporotic fractures and the factors that contribute to bone health.

With an ageing population and many patients remaining unaware of their risk, proactive assessment and prevention strategies are an important part of primary care.

Watch the video to hear A/Prof Kors discuss the foundations of osteoporosis care and why this condition deserves attention in everyday general practice.
