This module provides a comprehensive overview of insomnia, equipping practitioners with the knowledge and tools to assess and manage sleep disorders in clinical practice. It explores normal sleep physiology, circadian rhythms and the factors that contribute to disrupted sleep. Participants will learn how to assess insomnia, identify underlying causes and apply evidence-based management strategies. The module focuses on cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBTi) as a first-line treatment, alongside practical behavioural interventions and appropriate pharmacological options. By the end of the module, clinicians will be able to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care for individuals experiencing insomnia.
This module provides an in-depth exploration of obstructive sleep apnoea in men, focusing on its causes, clinical features, and management. The module equips healthcare professionals with evidence-based knowledge to identify, diagnose, and treat obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), emphasising the importance of early detection and patient-centred care. Practical insights, case studies, and management strategies ensure participants are prepared to address OSA effectively in clinical practice.
This module provides a comprehensive overview of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) in women, a common but often underdiagnosed neurological condition that significantly impacts sleep and quality of life. Participants will explore the underlying pathophysiology, including dopaminergic dysfunction and brain iron deficiency, and learn how to apply validated diagnostic criteria in clinical practice. The module also covers differential diagnosis, identification of secondary causes and evidence-based management strategies. Through practical guidance and case-based learning, clinicians will gain the knowledge required to assess, diagnose and manage RLS effectively, improving patient outcomes and overall quality of life.
