What do you think of this lesion on the foot?
Case discussion: A 32-year-old patient presents with a new pigmented skin lesion on the foot which has changed over the past two weeks. What do you think?
HealthCert Education
In this week's case discussion from Dr David Stewart, we look at a 32-year-old GP registrar who presents with a new pigmented lesion on the foot.
The patient reports that the lesion has changed over the past two weeks, and they are concerned about acral melanoma.
What are your thoughts?

Update
When Dr Stewart pared off the hard skin, the lesion disappeared! So, no histology on this occasion.
There are a few types of trapped epidermal pigments that can mimic acral melanoma — everything from trapped blood to exogenous oils and stains.
