Geriatric Medicine program overview

Australia's population is ageing, and older patients make up a growing share of every general practice.

The Geriatric Medicine pathway is designed to progressively build the knowledge to recognise, prevent and manage the health issues of older patients — from falls, dementia and polypharmacy through to stroke, palliative care and chronic disease.

  • Recognise clinical changes in older patients early, including dementia, osteoporosis, falls and depression.
  • Manage polypharmacy, nutrition and aged care services, and provide essential palliative care.
  • Manage complex conditions, including stroke, Parkinson's disease, chronic pain, heart failure and COPD.
  • Progress at your own pace through three certificate levels, fully online.
