How would you manage this scaly patch on the shin?

Written by HealthCert Education | Nov 1, 2026, 8:00:00 PM

In this week's case discussion, submitted by Dr Renuka Ranasinghe, we look at a 56-year-old male patient with a history of non-melanoma skin cancers  who presents for a skin check.

An inconspicuous scaly patch is noted on his right shin. The patient states it is a "dry patch" that has been checked each year but is progressively getting larger. He reports no inflammation, pain, bleeding, or pruritis.

Apologies, the photos were taken after the biopsy.

Please leave your comments today and check back for the outcome from Wednesday 2pm AEDT.
