In this week's case discussion from Dr Terry Harvey, we look at a 40-year-old female patient who presents to the skin cancer clinic as she is worried about a new, dark area arising in a scar from a previous wide local excision of a melanoma in situ at another clinic five years ago.
What do you think of the dermoscopy image?
The grey-blue pigmented area in the centre of the scar is a nylon suture. It can be left alone, or taken out with or without local anaesthetic depending on the depth. In this case it was removed.
